This note provides updated information on the conference and travel options:
Thank you for contributing to the American Literature Association Symposium, “The American Novel: Forms, Genres, and Traditions,” which will be held at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe on November 5-7, 2026.
Housing option: Lucinda Damon-Bach ( ldamonbach@salemstate.edu ) is looking for someone to share a two-bedroom apartment a few blocks from the conference hotel. Email her if you wish to pursue the possibilities.
Travel to Santa Fe: The Drury Plaza Hotel is located at 828 Paseo de Peralta
Santa Fe, NM 87501. From the small Santa Fe airport (SFA), the drive is about 20 minutes. From the larger and more popular Albuquerque (ABQ) airport, the drive is about an hour.
The Santa Fe airport is served by United (via Denver) and American (via Dallas and Phoenix), but most travelers choose to fly into Albuquerque (ABQ) and then take a shuttle to the hotel (about $60-70 and a pleasant one-hour drive each way) or rent a car. It is also possible to schedule an uber or lyft. Here are some options:
A. Public transportation:
From the ABQ airport, head to level one to the marked bus stop. Take the 50 bus line (free) to the Alvarado Transportation Center at 320 1st St SW. in downtown Albuquerque (about 20-25 minutes bus ride). Or take a taxi or uber (about 4 miles and 10-12 minutes)
Next, take the New Mexico Rail Runner Express to the Santa Fe Depot. The one-way $10 tickets can be purchased from an agent on the train or online. The cost is $4 for students and those over 60 (with a valid ID). This leg of the trip takes just under two hours.
Once you arrive at the Santa Fe Depot Station in the historic Railyard District, which is about 1.5 miles from the Hotel, you can take a taxi or rideshare or the local bus (the Santa Fe Pick-Up! Historic-Canyon Road Shuttle (10 mins) to the Paseo De Peralta stop, followed by a 5-minute walk).
B. Rideshare (through Self-Organizing Spreadsheet)
As a service to conference attendees, we have set up a self-organizing rideshare (such as Lyft or Uber) option on the linked Google sheet. If interested, please fill out the Rideshare Spreadsheet as soon as possible. The sheet is organized by arrival airport and time. Then, be in contact with the person(s) with whom you would like to share ride. This itinerary is heavily dependent on traffic and demand. It will take about an hour and probably cost around $75.
You can mix these by taking a rideshare from the airport to the transportation center in Albuquerque (in lieu of a bus) and/or a rideshare from the Santa Fe Depot station to the hotel (in lieu of walking or a bus); if interested, you could indicate this interest on the rideshare spreadsheet.
C. Shuttle between airport and hotel.
NMShuttle provides daily scheduled shuttle service between Albuquerque International Sunport and Santa Fe, Advance reservations are required. Book at https://nmshuttle.com or call 505-545-2964 or:

There are some amazing museums, restaurants, and shops very close to the hotel. You can easily find information about them online.
Please note that it will be wise to make a reservation for dinner, especially on the weekends.
For shops near the hotel that are devoted to native art, I recommend the following: Sun Country Traders (Navajo folk art and jewelry), Bahti Indian Arts (Hope Katsinas, Zuni carvings, and jewelry), Rainbow Man (folk art, jewelry, historic photos), Keshi (Zuni carvings and art), Andrea Fisher (Native pottery), King Gallery (Art and pottery), Niman Gallery (art), Faust Gallery (art and jewelry). You can also do very well in the museum shops and from the individual artisans selling in the plaza.
I hope that you find this information helpful.
We have an exciting and distinguished program of participants, and I am looking forward to an amazing conference. If you have any questions, please contact me at ab23@princeton.edu
